So, I'm in a waiting room the other day, waiting for someone (what else?) and to pass the time, I was paging through a Reader's Digest. I always find the little humor stories people send in - short, quick stories, sometimes even funny.
One of the stories kind of caught me off guard. It's not like it was dirty or anything, but the subject matter was not what you'd expect from Reader's Digest.
Here's a paraphrased version of it...
This woman is rushing about the house getting her kids ready for school. She is especially hurried this morning since she has an OBGYN appointment after she drops off the kids. As she is running out of time, she goes into the bathroom and sees a rag next to the sink. She grabs it and does a quick freshen up down below.
She finally gets to her appointment and heads into the exam room. The doctor comes in and starts the routine examination.
"My, my," he says. "I see we certainly went the extra mile in getting ready for our visit today!" He snickers a bit, and continues his work.
The woman is simply flabbergasted that he would make such a comment. Yea, she was rushed today. Yea, she should have showered. But she certainly wasn't unclean. How dare he make such a sarcastic, mean-spirited comment?
She fumed about it all day, trying to figure out what to do in response. She picked up her daughter from kindergarten and went home.
As she sat in the kitchen, slightly lost in thought, her daughter's voice brought her out of it.
"Mom! Mom!"
"Yes, honey?" she replied.
"Mom! What happened to all my glitter?"
"I don't know honey. Where did you leave it?" she asked wearily.
"I left it in a rag next to the bathroom sink, but now it's all gone!"
The woman nearly fainted.

I tell ya, it's rough trying to meet a female on this site. Downright frustrating, to say the least.
For the most part, I don't think it's the women's fault. The ratio of men to women on here is staggering. Guys comment in the chatrooms about them being a "sausage fest" all the time - well, go figure - when there are ten times as many men as women on the site, that's probably going to happen regularly...
It also doesn't help with the number of men who are bullshit artists, saying anything to try to get with a gal. Makes the rest of us look bad.
A lot of women get so many emails every day they don't even have time to read them all. Lmao - so what's a guy gonna do to stand out among the crowd? One can only get so creative in an email or instant message or chatroom... Then, too, it seems one never sends the message the gal wants to hear. The ones who like explicit emails you end up being very proper - the ones who want something more demure you send a graphic note...
Well, I'll keep trying. I'm sure my freaky little sex fiend is out there. It'll be worth all the hassle once I find her.

Warmest of wishes to all of you for the holiday season. No matter what you celebrate - Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, even Winter Solstice - I hope it all goes well.
The holidays are a time for celebrating - surrounding yourself with loved ones - eating too much - spending too much.
Spending too much - oh man - but isn't it worth it when you see the look on the face of the person you gave it to?

In actuality, it was a weapon which was very good in battle - the problem was, when blocked appropriately, it would cut you too.
Many things can be viewed as a double edged sword.
Writing, emailing, helping others, even charity work.
Everything you do can come back and bite you in the ass.

You do dumb things when you are in love.

You spend too much money.

Yes, it's official. I officially hate my job. Not "don't like", not "can't stand", but officially fucking hate it. A trained monkey could do this job. But I guess it does pay the bills. Not that I can complain about the money. But it's so fucking boring.
The bossman is looking to expand into areas where I have extensive expertise, so I guess things aren't as bad as they could be. Could be worse. I could be one of the shlumps whom I work with thinking that what we're doing is rocket surgery...
I'm just not cut out to hump cable all the live-long day and be happy about it. I'm a system engineer - integrated systems a specialty. Throw a burg system at me with fire, card access and CCTV to boot and I'm happier than a shit throwing monkey. Humping cable for voice and data to 5,322 locations kinda sucks. But it is kinda cool working at Miller Brewing - you can actually smoke indoors there.
Oh well - life goes on I suppose. I'll get up and do the same damn thing tomorrow... and again... and again...

Life is strange. Sometimes things come at you which you don't expect.
Example - we bought Guitar Hero III this weekend - simple enough game - play the music - but very cool.
The music is enough to turn it up - mostly music from my day - 80's rock.
