M Is Back - I appreciate that you invested the time to put some sincere thought into your comment. Often times, people just don't get it. They miss the point of the exercise. I could visualize the meal unfolding into an experience. Likewise, what Witty discribed was an experience. The chief wasn't merely fix-n a dish.... NO NO NO! He was creating an experience for someone. And through that experience, was expressing himself. What's so awesome is that Witty caught him unaware! His display of sensual expression wasn't for show it was REAL. While I am not a certified chief, i certainly enjoy creating delicious dishes in my home. And whether it's just for me or for family or a date... I tend to put the same amount of detail in every dish. Many unsuspecting guest have comments on the artistic touch put into each plate.

My belief is... Almost any food can be used to express a sensual side of ones desire. Creativity is key.... Imagination vital....

Tonight I made a simple dish that was more of an experiment at best. I've never used prepacked meatballs before, but I invisioned a meal the night prior and had to see if it would work out. Visually it worked but unfortunately it was not to my standard as far as taste goes. Did the kids like it??? of course... but would I fix it for a date???? Heck NO!

The dish was italian meat balls cooked in a semi-spicy vodka sauce, served over white rice, with a side of steamed fresh broccoli. What was important to me visually was the beauti in the mix of colors. Next was the variation in texture between the 3 primary ingredients. Which btw, all went well together. The portion of the meal i didn't like was the clash of flavors. Italian sausage avec semi-spicy vodka sauce, and bland white rice just didn't get it.

But, back to the positive aspects of the meal: As the meatballs cooked I was particulary interested in making sure the meat was not overrun by the suace. I wanted to be able to see the crown of each meatball with the sauce simmering between them. (OH-Ummmmm, let me say this first> I don't know how that relates to any sexy thought-i'm just telling you how it played out.) The rice was like perfectly prepared white rice. No blemishes whatsoever! The white rice was first laid out on the plate to cover 2/3 of the plate in a crecent shape. The meat was pulled from the sauce and placed gently on top of the rice. Afterwards the sauce was laddled over the meat and rice which seemed to cause two very distinct elements to become one.
