First things first:

I am not a "girl."
I am not a "chick."

You might as well mosey on by if you are looking for either of those things.

(And I am a "woman," not a "women." I can't believe how many times someone's referred to me as plural.)

In the last few years, I've been discovering the challenges and rewards of living polyamorously. I don't carry a PolyPride card in my wallet; I just don't think white-picket-fence monogamy is the right choice for me. That said, I'm not interested in just having sex for the sake of having sex, or in carving notches on my bedpost (which would only apply, anyway, if I had bedposts, which I don't). I'm not interested in being someone's "girl." I identify as queer (when I have to), and would enjoy meeting others who enjoy upsetting the gender police. I read and think and wonder about the world. My intellectual space is somewhere inbetween Michel Foucault and Virginia Woolf.

(And contrary to what many readers of my profile assume, I do have a sense of humor. A pretty wicked one at that.)

My Ideal Person: Don't message me if: you're looking for cute chicks; you want to find a girl for your woman; you're over 45 or under 30; you need normative gender roles to remain intact.

In an ideal universe, you would understand what I mean by that. You read, you're curious, you think about lots of other things aside from sex. I hope you're height and weight proportionate, but I am not about conventional standards of attraction. I'm usually more attracted to "normal"-looking people than people who look as though they've just stepped off a movie set. It's much more important to me that we can carry on a mutually gratifying conversation than whether I can bounce a quarter off your abs.

If you are an academic, in any field but particularly in cultural studies, film studies, womens' studies, critical theory, et al, that's a huge bonus. I get along best with people who are adventurous, confident, and free-spirited.

Kink has also become a more important part of my sex life recently. If you have experience or curiosity about it, let me know. But I'm not looking for strict roles, to be your slave, to let you turn my body into a ritual object, etc. Having a sense of humor and playfulness about your sexuality is an enormous turn-on. I'm looking for someone who isn't afraid of their own sexuality, and especially for someone who isn't afraid of mine.
