2010 IT Camp-out???
It was a very busy night at our club on our July long weekend( Saturday ), - almost a full house - but I managed to be pulled away for a minute to talk to one of our members on the subject of an IT camp-out. The member asked if we are going to do a IT camp-out for 2010? I said it would be nice, but doing a cost benefit analyst on the concept proved not to be a worthy at all. When you factor planning,developing,property rental,sewage, set-up, operation,fuel,utilities,equipment rental, wear and tear on equipment,misc,food,entertainment,tear down,insurance, wages(factor your worth), - not to mention you are in direct competition with your own club - we saw little or no profit in the camp-out venture. You must also take in account the risk factors liabilities such as weather. If the weather is crap you are still holding the bag for the set up costs. I don't see a problem having a camp-out if you want to have a laugh or two, hold hands and sing kumbaya, but in the end, the club owners have to go through the stress to make sure all pistons are firing and the work,expenses,and bills are paid.If you don't think it's that much to put on a camp-out.lol. Go ahead and try to put on a camp out for 100 people.If it lasts, your toilet will sure get a good workout, and then get a a huge sewage/water bill. Darn rights your members will say it was a hoot, but the club owners will look at each other and say" how did we pull that off without losing our minds.lol.
That being said, it doesn't mean we aren't looking at some get-a-ways. We are looking forward to maybe doing a lifestyle vacation at a resort in the near future.
I know, I think we should all go Mexico and get drunk and $#%@.
