Just for Mom

I couldn't help but notice in today's ads, on the front page of one of the major retailers (with a red bullseye) they were promoting Mother's Day gifts. The one that caught my attention was the "fashion bangle with a boyfriend watch set". Hmmm.... I wonder how many Mom's just want the boyfriend??

The eyes have it...

Okay, I know I will probably get into trouble over this one, but the first thing I try to notice about a female's looks are her eyes. It's not always possible when they are not facing you. There are many times I cannot get below the neck when those eyes are so attractive. It can become a game to see if they will return the favor and glance back at yours.

Behind the eyes is the brain - the most revealing and potentially provocative part of the body - in so many ways. If there is no mental attraction...

That's not to say I don't notice the rest of the body. I guess I've always been a "legs and ass" man. There seems to be an obsession over a woman's breasts. Bigger is not always (and rarely) better. I don't drink out of a jug... A natural "A" cup is much more attractive than hanging balloons or augmented globoids. In many ways it's all about proportions. A well proportioned body of any size will usually get a second look - especially when those eyes are smiling.

The most important factors remain between the ears - at least for me.

The Efficiency Expert

A couple was dining at a rather upscale restaurant. As they glanced around, they noticed all the waiters had a shirt pocket full of spoons and a string hanging out of their zipper. Out of curiosity, the husband mentioned this observation to their waiter. He paused and explained that the owner had recently employed an efficiency expert to help contol costs. Spoons were the most often utensil knocked to the floor or otherwise needing replacement. In order to reduce timely trips to the kitchen for replacements, the waiters all carried an extra supply in their pocket.

The couple thought about it for a second and agreed that made good sense. The wife then asked about the string hanging from their zippers. The waiter sheepishly replied that the same expert found the waiters could reduce time during bathroom breaks by avoiding the routine handwashing routine. The strings allowed them to pull their cocks out of their pants without touching them. The wife thought for a second. "Well that makes sense for getting your cocks out of your pants, but how do you get them back in??" The waiter looked around and replied, "I don't know about the others, but I just use a spoon".

Next time, just ask for a clean fork.......

Okay, I know we've had mild winter, but...

I get home this afternoon from the store and find a wild turkey strutting around my fenced backyard. I've seen possums and raccoons around the neighborhood, but never a turkey. I know there has been a family of red foxes within a half mile in past years and plenty of deer nearby. It walked around the boundary pecking at the fence as though an opening would suddenly appear. It finally decided that flight would be necessary and soon found itself in my neighbor's fenced yard. Again it scouted an easy way out - to no avail. It half flew to the top of their fence, sat for awhile, then bounded off to ??

Reminded me of the ducks that would literally attack me on my way through my apartment parking lot in Saint Louis.

Oh well, guess I'll have to settle for burgers on the grill this weekend.

There goes the rain - here comes the sun!

After three days of miserable rain and drizzle, there are signs of sun. Looks like I need to get the mower out of storage and get it ready. Am sure it will take another day for the yard to dry out, but sheesh, the grass has turned dark green and already needs to be cut. Not ready to put the snowblower in storage just yet. Have seen 6 inches of snow drop down in April. At least it won't stick around if we do get anymore.

I can finally set my menus for grilling. Have three full propane tanks ready for constant action. As much as I try to plan ahead, I'm always tweaking my menus. Makes for more trips to the grocery store which affords more opportunity for people watching. Must say you see quite a variety. Love trying to make eye contact. Some will smile back, others are totally oblivious. Who knows, maybe the next time you're at the grocery store, you might be walking right past me without any clue.

Time to go make another mug of coffee. Which reminds me, have to get a jar of sun tea ready too. The first of the season. Always like to add a small bag of blackcurrant for that added special taste.

If you're a coffee or tea lover, let me know. Maybe we could discuss the topic de jour at one of the local coffee houses.

Guess time flies when you get busy... Tried to stay away from the blog for a while then got tied up with other activities. Just thought I would revisit and see if anybody (lol) has left any private messages in my guest book.

Still hitting the coffee and always looking to meet new friends for some stimulating conversation over a cup of java. Starbucks anyone??

This is definitely worth revisiting. It has often been credited to George Carlin, but research points to Larry Miller.

"Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited
about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!"

You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on
five! That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16!

And then the greatest day of your life . . . you become 21. Even the
words sound like a ceremony . . . YOU BECOME 21. . . YEAS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. He TURNED, we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.

Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 . . . and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a
day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime.

And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I was JUST 92." Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"

May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!"

Personally, I think I've skipped over some and tripped over many...

Roasting a chicken for tonight (and you were thinking?).

I think it deserves some saffron rice. Best part, I get to savor the aroma all day long.

So what's on your menu??

The weekend is over...

***

Finally Monday! I know most people hate Monday's. I look forward to them. Everyone's back to work, school, college and I have time to collect myself. Time to sort through my thoughts, create my checklists for the week, exercise my writing with another contribution to my blog The goats are fine. I pass a goat farm when I make my collegetown drive so I check them out. I always say I'm going to buy it when I really retire and make esoteric goat cheese. I read some article in a waiting room magazine about a writer in Ohio that had done just that. I figure if she can do it, so can I. With all the appointments my parents have, I have the opportunity to stay abreast of those magazines that actually continue to survive in this printless era.

Need to make a trip to my spice cupboard here soon. I'll be doing a roast on the rotisserie later today and want it to dry marinate in the frig for a few hours. I suppose I should throw together a complimentary sidedish so will have to give that some thought. It's supposed to be hot, so nothing major in terms of cooking (somebody in this household doesn't believe in using an air conditioner). Oh, and speaking of spices, my new spice catalog came over the weekend. Need to go through it and make out another list.

With my short term memory rencounter, I live by my lists, calendars, to-do's - written, electronic, dry erase. You name it, I've got a list. Somewhere I even have a list of lists, but I don't remember where I stored it on my computer. That's probably why this office is such a mess. I file by the pile. If it's out of sight, it's definitely out of my mind. I know I'm all over the board with this posting. I stumbled across a blog posting that explains my blogging persona. I'm not always very original when it comes to writing. Too many thoughts bombard me, my brain short circuits, and I can't transpose the neurons into ink. Better get - time to grind some more beans and brew another cup of coffee.
