I used to be upset about people communicating like idiots ... until I realized that being able to type in whole words will be an employable skill so I will always a job. I agree with the adulting thing. Taking the hell care of yourself shouldn't be a reward based activity. Congratulations for having lazy parents who sat you in front of the DVD player and didn't teach you how to function. I even made a meme for it, lol.

All the word abbreviating is because people have become more lazy then ever, you know it's tough to spell out a four or even a whopping 5 letter word these days. And you know just how pressed these younger people are for time these days !

I have heard the adulting thing for a while, but always associated it the feeling of not feeling like doing anything responsible for a period of time. Regardless if it is working, cleaning or what not. To me it recognizes that you have "grown up" shit to do but you don't wanna do it. I'm pretty sure we all have days were we have sat around in our PJs, dicking around online or watching TV, instead or running errands or whatever. I am still not good with all the acronyms but i am getting better. There are some I always have to look up, which of course I can't remember right now. However they have always been around, I don't see them going anyplace. While they can be annoying, I wouldn't judge a person too harshly for using them. They are just a quick way to get your point across without wearing your thumbs out. LOL. I know several folks who text that way but I are fully capable to writing in full sentences when the need hits. To be honest (TBH), a lot of folks feel i since it is "just" the Internet/comment section/whatever; therefore, they rules don't fully apply. Eh, to me it is really about context. I mean if we are having a serious conversation that is one thing/blogging/whatnot, then yes bring out the full sentences. If we are just shooting the shit... I had a 20 year old girl telling me she wasn't sure if the guy she had sex with, few days before, was her boyfriend or a sex friend and she was all anxious and worried. So, she ask me if she should text him about it to inow if they were still together? I said texting? Why don't you call the guy and ask hiim directly right now? Can't you people talk to each other? You just had sex few days ago.... man... What's next? You will sex text.... Pinch me, must be having a nightmare!

Hah ... highly amusing to me that the woman named pagancountrygirl us complaining about slang ... while having a blog post named my cauldron runneth over. Slang apparently only acceptable if known and with good cover ... but the contradiction is inherent and desired imo. Like isn't pointing out that you left a wand around here ... kinda begging for dick picks, which I assume will be belittled - but I didn't read far enough to assert that. I luv Urban Dictionary .... And those that do should check out the next bestest thang: http://urbanthesaurus.org/ I've found those that complain about the breakdown of speach and insist on proper grammar are either ... very much in need of meeting that knuckle dragging three legged critter for coffee and pie (catch and release) or are needing that poor creature to behave so as to have a standard of right and wrong to work with (catch and cook) ... polarity is, as a matter of course, required for a shift in relatedness to occur much like making an oath that one cannot live up to. Like Christians who have a hatred of Athiests ... I don't get it? I mean don't more athiests mean that more christians will have space in heaven? It is like the dislike of one religious group by another is the fuel that makes both work, just at different latitudes .... or some kinda tudes. So maybe the dislike of language simplicity is built into some kinda process ... oh I see what you did there, I hear tell is a slang phrase that is similar to how a dog might here a dog whistle. If spelling is how we communicate and typos are the mistakes ... then typos are supposed to be signs of a mistake ... however, I and many I speak with, take them instead as signs for what might be left out. Why is it ladys, that we have such a difficult time finding just the right man? When I was a child my mother taught me a story of a princess who kisses a frog to find a prince ... I've been kissed enough now to know that the order is reversed. It is the prince women want and the frog they leave. I'd apologize for my grammar but ... isn't that implying a wrong doing? Oh that's right no mistake/namase ... in summary tl:dr ... acronyms are just another step toward hiding intentions just as hyphenated words hide cooperative suggestions ... so let us forget all this measuring of meaning yeah? WTF?  Anyway . . . I grunt unto thee (IGUT) that I agree (IAG). Even though I not a fan (NAF) of texting is can be a useful tool. But using it as the only means and constantly misspelling words (CMW) indicates a lack of effort or intelligence (LOEO . It is also a great way to mis-communicate as evidenced by a number of posts here. BYE (grunt).  When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I think the adulting memes are awesome. Because there are days when I really just don't WANT to adult anymore. I am tired of the responsibility, the drudgery, going to work, paying bills, etc. I just wanna stay in bed and eat cereal while watching cartoons.

Oh no miss quite the contrary ... my tounge was planted firmly in my cheek and it is far from the case that a heathen has the right to burn a pagan. See the mess that can happen when an oldster tries to speak the new? Especially when a fool such as I cares not for the civilized cover of appropo? Obvious signs of a savage cave dweller, I've been told. I truly enjoyed the responses in this blog entry ... I too suffer from ageism - as that does seem to be a thing that can burn both ways. I lament that youth seem to want to emoji their opinions AND still manage to slip one by a litterate fellow. Likewise my bias against those that are more novel with language - really is age. Who here in their 40s really can say they never used slang in a way to get one over on someone else and doesn't that this slang generally worked better on those that are of a certain age? I will be doing my own blog soon and probably many will not be pleased on how I write it if I let the responses I get to my profile be my guide. I too am someone who has had to resource the lingo that has slid my way ... always suprised to find that underneath the smooth delivery is an option for quite dark humour. Like really there is a difference between Ha Ha and HaHa ... much like the difference between those that laugh with and those that laugh at. But my general view that this occurs at all age brackets and regional demarkations ... that isn't necessarily an age issue, that just happens to be the face of it. Reminded of a phrase in a Dylan song ... "there are no truths outside the gates of eden". I, me, mine, you, thy, thine - language is as much a tool for clarity as it is for guile no matter how many syllabi. apologies for any harmed in the making of these replies. Peace out

I was so happy to see your line light up. and now.......i'm laughing like a loon. I was in a chat room for about 15 minutes yesterday and had to leave because of all the acronyms. I was so confused and I felt so OLD. I know, I AM old. but jeeze. then, my friend and I went to dinner and sat across from a table where all four people had their phones out. no one spoke. I swear. I mean, why go out together, why not just each order a pizza at home and text...... You cannot conceive the many without the one.

I can type out "for real" faster than I can think to type fr, or "you" instead of u... and the spelling ... well let's just not go there. No one knows how to spell any more either. I have been shocked a time or three at the intelligence level of the younger generation... it is rare though. You are correct maybe not ALL is lost!!! That made me think of a time my son and his girlfriend were upset with each other and we sitting on the sofa texting back and forth... until I got up and took both their phones. My son was pissed that I took it and asked for it back... my response was "Oh so you do know how to speak after all" and walked out of the room with both phones...
