Bling - Is it Going Away?
|
I know the company who run this website don't really care what the members here think or want. In my opinion it was a huge mistake to get rid of the kudos from the site which you mentioned. Since kudos went, the site has been on a steady decline downhill, seems like less and less genuine members, more and more fake and scam profiles flooding the site on a daily basis. I think thats what this website will end up with. Tons and tons of fake and scam profiles, and very few genuine members who are willing to pay for a membership. After getting rid of the kudos this getting rid of profile background bling and profile custom colours, is yet another step in the wrong direction. If only the powers that be would listen to the loyal, long time paying customers this site would be a much better place for everyone. I'm not going to back down on this, and there are plenty of other sites of a similar nature to this that are not run by Various inc, i can go to when i leave here. I'm sure the other sites will be happy to take my money for a membership, its not just the bling issue i'm unhappy with on here, over the past 12 months i've been getting really fed up with the amount of fake and scam profiles on here, its got to a level now that is just laughable, this site is a joke!

What about the pictures of Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef on your profile, they must be stolen images too ? And is it ok to use stolen images if you take them down when somebody (like Koffla) mentions it ? Is there a limit to the number of stolen images one can have before one is commiting an offence, what is that number ? I'm so confused... and I am still confused as to why you use bling extensively on your profile, when going back to your original comment you are so against it ? Why is it a problem for people to get visits to their profile for any reason, taking bling included ? The facilities on this site are used by a broad spectrum of people for a wide variety of reasons, no use of the site facilities (blogs, bling, groups, chat, cams, meets etc) is any more or less valid than another. I do agree with some of your more general comments about the site proprietors though.

"Where have I said I am against bling ?" Here in your original comment : "I fully agree with the sites decision to get rid of bling backgrounds. The site should get rid of bling entirely, thus reducing those who misuse stolen website images to attain the manipulation of popularity you have spoken of back into their rightful place."

I completely agree with this point. Whilst the TOU do not require you to give your permission I firmly believe they should. In any event I think anybodey requested not to use another members pics etc should have the decency to respect their wishes, regardless of the rules. I also dislike it when bling is used to take up half a page on a blog. And I don't like it when bling is used as something akin to gang colours. I think these uses are abuses of the bling facility, but it is a small minority and in my view doesn't reflect on the decent majority of blingsters, which I do believe add value in many aspects. A few bad apples do the cause of bling no good at all, but they cannot be allowed to disrupt the enjoyment of the many decent users.

Well that's it then.... our profiles look lifeless, dull, bland, boring, devoid of personality. Once we were colourful and sparkley with individuality, now we are grey and white in corporate uniformity

If bling is to stay, "Why is there no link to Blings on the new redesign that is easy reachable? Don't you think it better to remove the whole feature of bling if it no important for the site to have it? Since one of the most interesting uses for most that like to use was dropped."
